CNEX is Taiwan’s first local documentary channel focusing on current affairs and human stories. The on-air packaging refresh was done by JL Design studio based in Taiwan.
Its diverse content caters to the knowledge seekers, those who are eager and curious. The concept for its branding is about celebrating the uniqueness of the individual. It is this individualistic behavior when observed in a group, a community or a society, that makes the seemingly ordinary, everyday life interesting.
Channel Packaging Montage
The on-air packaging uses a grid system which comprises of white squares and a red square to represent CNEX. It shows how differences in individual movement makes for a compelling picture. The flat design overlayed on the 3d animated background allows for information to be easily read and for the movement to be neat and clean. The animation of the red square to reveal elements, highlight the program time is simple and minimal.
The three channel idents for CNEX are more like art installations which you see in galleries. They are simple, elegant and beautiful. The underlying theme of these idents is to showcase that how differences in individual behavior make for a mesmerizing performance. Bouncing balls, swinging bulbs and swinging mobiles all move at their own timing and the moment the CNEX in red is introduced, it gets energized. The idents really transport you to a museum gallery.
